Look Beyond Your Arts Sector for Support!
Imagine having the time to explore, experiment and concentrate on new creative ventures. Among the largest grants available for individual artists in Ontario, the Chalmers Arts Fellowships provide up to $50,000 to projects that allow artists to try something new. It can free them from other activities – literally, to buy time – so they can focus on creative development and research; explore new techniques, repertoire, etc.; or be immersed in new experiences that regenerate and reinvigorate their artistic practice and career.
Fellowships may be awarded to artists at any stage of their career. They support artists working in a wide range of aesthetics and traditions that reflect Ontario’s regional activity, linguistic and cultural diversity, and Aboriginal and Franco-Ontarian identity.
The program also supports directors of arts organizations in Ontario. Artistic or music directors of performing arts organizations, publishers and curators, whether their organizations receive OAC operating grants or not, might want to consider applying for a project that could enhance their artistic and/or career development.
Eligible projects must broaden and deepen the scale and/or scope of artistic activity or career development beyond the activity supported by an OAC grant. The next deadline is June 1, 2007.
