Ontario-Quebec Artist Residencies

Ontario-Quebec Artist Residencies
June 06, 2007 - June 06, 2007

Program for: Individuals

Purpose: The program provides Ontario artists with an opportunity for creation and professional development residencies in Quebec. Participating artists will be free to determine the residency’s objectives and how they will be achieved.

Interested candidates must submit a residency proposal that includes a one-to-three month stay in Quebec. Candidates are responsible for finding their own accommodations and making any professional contacts required for their projects.

Among the program’s aims are the following:

  • Support and encourage artists by providing an environment and resources that will help them develop and present their work;
  • Encourage artists and writers to develop their skills by giving them access to stimulating new cultural surroundings;
  • Promote the exchange of artistic views and contribute to the establishment of lasting ties between writers and artists in Ontario and Quebec;
  • Strengthen ties between artists and communities;
  • Identify new arts creation, production and presentation networks;
  • The grants provided by this program are intended to cover the following costs: the artist’s personal insurance, travel, accommodation and living expenses and the costs of purchasing, transporting and insuring the materials required to carry out the project.

Candidates do not have to submit a detailed budget with their application.

The Ontario-Quebec Artist Residencies program aims to reflect the range of artistic practices in the visual arts, arts and crafts, written and oral literature, theatre, music, dance, arts education and community arts and to support excellence, regional activity, linguistic and cultural diversity and Aboriginal and Franco-Ontarian identity.
