Bela Ravi

Bela Ravi was appointed to the board of the Ontario Arts Council in April 2010. She Bela Raviwas a member of the Sudbury Theatre Centre’s Board of Directors from 2005 to 2008, and from 2007 to 2009, Ms. Ravi was on the Mayor’s Panel for the establishment of a Performing Arts Centre.

Ms. Ravi has volunteered countless hours with the Rainbow District School Board and has been on the Parent Council at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School from 2004 to the present. Her interest in the arts and education led to major fundraising efforts to support music programs and initiate a school snack program. She is currently on the Board of Governors of Laurentian University.

Ms. Ravi has been Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Greater Sudbury Police Services on Racial and Multicultural Relations since 2005. For the last 10 years, she has been a member of the India Canada Association of Sudbury and in 2010 she joined the Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Arts Association Board. Ms. Ravi is interested in health advocacy and has been on the board of the City of Lakes Family Health Team. Since 2004, she has been involved in fundraising for the ParkSide Older Adult Centre in support of a helpline for seniors operated by the North-East Community Care Access Centre (CCAC).

Ms. Ravi has been recognized for her community efforts with a volunteer award on Canada Day in 2004 and a Civic Award from the City of Greater Sudbury in 2006. In 2008, she received a “Hubby”– an award created in memory of the late Hubert “Hub” Bray, former president of the Sudbury Food Bank. Ms. Ravi lives in Sudbury with her husband and three daughters.
