Program for: Individuals
Objective: Chalmers Arts Fellowships are grants intended for individual professional artists in Ontario to conduct independent research to further develop their artistic practice and creative ability. Applicants must be able to state the purpose of their research and have a plan for carrying it out.
The program supports artists at any stage of their career development, from emerging to established, including artists whose work reflect Ontario’s linguistic and cultural diversity, or Aboriginal and Franco-Ontarian identities.
Eligibility: This program is open to professional Ontario-based artists. In addition, in order to apply to the Chalmers Arts Fellowships program you must:

be a Canadian citizen, a Permanent Resident of Canada, or have an application pending for Permanent Resident status and, if requested, be able to provide documentation to verify this;

be a resident of Ontario for at least one year before the application is made;

continue to live in Ontario at least eight months a year, with the following exceptions:
Artists who live in Ontario may leave the province for up to one year and continue to be eligible for OAC support if the absences are temporary (e.g. for an educational or artistic opportunity) and they do not also apply for support from the jurisdiction of their temporary residence.
Artists living permanently in Quebec municipalities in the National Capital region who:

are applying to the OAC in French
-
have been recognized as Ontario artists
-
contribute actively to the artistic life of Ontario
-
have not sought assistance from the Quebec government for the same activity
-
work in one of the disciplines supported at OAC: arts education, community arts, crafts, dance, literature, media arts, multidisciplinary arts, music, theatre, visual arts
Ineligible Applicants We will not accept applications from:
- co-applicants, groups, ensembles, collectives or organizations (incorporated not-for-profit or for-profit)
- undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students enrolled full- or part-time in an academy, school, college or university regardless of the program of study
- applicants who have submitted an application to or have a grant in progress supported by the Chalmers Professional Development Grant, National / International Residency or Ontario-Quebec Artist Residencies programs
- applicants who have any OAC, Chalmers Arts Fellowships or Chalmers Professional Development Grants overdue or incomplete post-project reports.
