Darlene Naponse leading engagement for Ontario’s new Indigenous Culture Fund

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is pleased to announce that Darlene Naponse has been appointed Indigenous Community Engagement Developer effective February 16, 2017.Darlene Naponse


The Indigenous Community Engagement Developer is a newly created role established to lead the community engagement strategy for the Indigenous Culture Fund (ICF). ICF is a new fund that OAC is administering on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport to support Indigenous cultural expression and ways of life.


Darlene’s knowledge and expertise as a filmmaker, director, owner of a multi-media business and former elected member of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek Band Council will provide a substantial foundation for her work on ICF.


Darlene has been working with OAC since October 2015 as Northeastern Representative and has also been Acting Indigenous Arts Officer since June 2016.


In the interim, applicants based in northeastern Ontario and/or Indigenous applicants are encouraged to contact the following OAC staff, if they have any questions or are unsure of which program best suits their needs.
