Pat Bradley, Theatre, Major Organizations and Compass Officer, and Myles Warren, Dance and Awards Officer, are stepping down from their positions in December after more than 18 and 17, respectively, years of service. OAC has posted the job openings with an October 2, 2019 deadline for submission. The successful candidates will join OAC in the new year.
“These officer positions require not only tremendous knowledge of and background in the artistic disciplines, but also an in-depth understanding of these communities and the way theatre and dance creators make work,” said Peter Caldwell, Director & CEO. “Both Pat and Myles exemplify the complexity of skills, experience and wisdom we will be looking for. On behalf of the OAC board of directors and staff, I would like to thank them for their years of outstanding service on behalf of the arts in Ontario.”
About Pat
Pat joined OAC in 2001, having previously been executive director of both the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT) and Professional Writers Association of Canada (PWAC). She is a lecturer in the Arts, Media and Entertainment MBA program of the Schulich School of Business, teaches annually at the National Theatre School, and serves on the board of AMAPCEO (Ontario’s professional employees’ union).
During her OAC career, Pat was the founding chair of CADAC (Canadian Arts Data / Données sur les arts au Canada) which was launched in 2008. In 2004, she developed and launched the Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators program. Pat oversaw the expansion of the Compass program in 2016, including the introduction of an arts management internship stream for managers who are Indigenous, of colour, Deaf or have a disability. When OAC launched a new program in 2015 for Ontario’s 10 largest arts organizations, the Major Organizations program became another feature in Pat’s portfolio of responsibilities.
About Myles
Myles came to OAC in 2002 after more than 25 years working in the arts in Canada. Prior to joining OAC, he spent a decade fostering alternative arts administration models for independent dance creators and small-scale dance companies at the Dance Umbrella of Ontario (DUO) where he was executive director. Before that he was general manager for Desrosiers Dance Theatre, and co-founder of the on the MOVE conference for dancers entering professional careers and co-chair of Arts for Change, a capacity building initiative for the performing arts in Toronto.
Over his years at OAC, Myles has administered numerous dance and awards programs including developing and implementing Ontario Dances, an innovative program that assists presenters to foster dance audiences in smaller or mid-sized communities throughout Ontario. He oversaw the roll-out of the province’s inaugural Premier’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts as well as OAC’s Chalmers Arts Fellowships. In 2011, he was co-chair of the Canada Dance Mapping Study to quantify and describe the Canadian environment and economy for dance in partnership with the Canada Council for the Arts.
