The Ontario Government passed the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) in 2005. Its goal is to make Ontario accessible for people with disabilities by 2025. This act lays the framework for the development of province-wide mandatory accessibility standards that all businesses and organizations in Ontario will have to follow to identify, remove and prevent barriers to accessibility in all areas of daily life.
The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is deeply committed to access for all Ontarians and it is the organization's goal to achieve accessibility according to any standard that is implemented under AODA.
Creating an organization where every person can participate as fully as possible—artists and arts organizations who apply for OAC grants and access our services, employees, jurors, advisors, board members and suppliers—just makes good sense.
The OAC has a comprehensive Multi-Year Accessibility Plan and policies that can be downloaded below. Alternate formats will be made available upon request.
