Appointments to OAC Board

February 3, 2022

The two newest members appointed to the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) board of directors are Innisfil’s William Moore and Mississauga’s Marek Ruta.

“I was delighted to host OAC’s first meeting of 2022 last week with our two newest board members in attendance,” said Rita Davies, OAC Chair. “A lot is expected of our volunteer board members and it is particularly helpful when they bring the range of arts experience that both William and Marek have.”

William Moore

William Moore is an advocate and planner in the arts, culture and heritage sector. He has a passion for the arts that has driven him to focus on telling authentic stories about “place” and for the economic opportunity that the arts can bring to cities, towns and regions.

The Ontario Arts Council has a 12-member government-appointed board of directors that is responsible for oversight of OAC’s granting process, including policies and decision-making. In 2020-21, OAC invested its granting budget of $53.6 million in 195 communities across Ontario through 1,828 peer-assessed grants to individual artists and 1,172 grants to organizations. A further one-time $25 million Arts Recovery Support Fund that the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries announced in March 2021 was allocated to eligible organizations the same month.
