Sarah Phillips steps in as Interim Theatre Officer
Sarah Phillips has joined the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) as Interim Theatre Officer until March 2023. Sarah is filling in for Clelia Farrugia, who is on leave.
Sarah will be managing the three English-language theatre programs, Theatre Projects, Theatre Organizations: Operating and Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators.
About Sarah Phillips
Over her career, Sarah has worked as a freelance theatre director and artistic director in both rural and urban settings, as well as in a variety of administrative, producing, and education roles. She most recently worked as Creative Management Associate at the Shaw Festival and was the Producer for the International Creative Producer Training program at Canada Hub, during the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe festival in Scotland.
For ten years prior to these roles, she was the Artistic Director and Producer of Festival Players of Prince Edward County where the focus was on Canadian work in a rural environment. Sarah was the Artistic Director and Co-Producer of Toronto’s red red rose theatre (1997-2004).
In 2019, she received her Master’s in Arts Leadership from Queen’s University. Sarah is a graduate from the Directing Program at the National Theatre School of Canada. Her undergraduate degree in Drama and Theatre is from the University of Guelph.
