Business number now required for incorporated organizations applying to OAC
As of the 2022-23 fiscal year, all incorporated not-for-profit organizations that apply for Ontario Arts Council (OAC) grants must include their business number on their profile in Nova, OAC’s online grant application system.
Your organization will not be able to submit an application if this field is not filled out on your profile. If it is missing, the system will trigger an error message and prevent you from submitting your application.
Please note that this requirement does not apply to non-incorporated groups, such as collectives or ad hoc groups.
What is a business number? How do I find my organization’s business number?
A business number is the unique nine-digit number that all registered businesses and incorporated not-for-profits have, issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). It is not the same as the incorporation numbers and charitable registration numbers.
To find your business number, check any letter your organization would have received from the CRA. The CRA program account number will appear in the following format: 123456789 AZ 0001. The first nine digits of this number is your business number.
