New officers support Ontario Arts Council’s Dance, Touring and Arts Service Organization programs

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) Cross-Sectoral Associate Officer Maura Broadhurst has taken over responsibilities from Touring and Audience Development Officer Noora Sagarwala, who is on maternity leave until January 2017. Maura also manages the Arts Services programs. At the same time, Elise Chalmers has joined OAC on contract to provide back-up for Dance and Awards Officer Myles Warren, who is working full-time on the launch of OAC’s online application system.

 

About Maura Broadhurst

Maura BroadhurstMaura has worked at OAC since 2011 – first as Arts Investment Fund Officer, and then as an Interim Officer in various program areas. Prior to this, she held positions at the Latcham Gallery (Stouffville), the McMichael Canadian Art Collection (Kleinburg), the Living Arts Centre (Mississauga) and Canadian Stage (Toronto). Maura holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo, with a major in art history and a minor in arts administration. She also has a master of arts degree from Concordia University.

Maura is responsible for the following programs:

  • Arts Service Organizations
  • Arts Service Projects
  • National and International Touring
  • Ontario Touring
  • National and International Residency

 

About Elise Chalmers

Elise ChalmersElise comes to OAC with experience working with both arts organizations and public funding bodies. Most recently, she was Associate Director of Government Relations at Canadian Stage, where she previously held positions in their Development and Corporate & Foundations areas. Elise obtained a master’s in Canadian Studies (cultural policy) from Carleton University. During her studies, she worked in the research and policy offices of the Canada Council for the Arts and the Department of Canadian Heritage.

Elise is responsible for the following programs:

  • Dance Initiatives
  • Aboriginal and Culturally Diverse Dance Training
  • Ontario Dances
  • Ontario Arts Presenters
  • Chalmers* Arts Fellowships
  • Chalmers* Professional Development Grants

* No relation to Elise, but it seems fitting that she manage this program.
