Program Philosophy
To achieve the greatest impacts on students, the following components are important in an arts learning initiative:
Creative Process
Centering the creative process at the core of a project is a way of arriving at new insights, creating new questions, finding new ways to understand a place, a social issue or each other.
Collaboration
Even before action happens in the classroom, artists and teachers work as a team. Their collaboration extends throughout the project to provide the greatest benefit to students. Collaboration between students throughout the project and between students, teachers and artists is also encouraged.
Administrative Support
Teachers and artists need support from their administration to be able to maximize their potential in the classroom.
Flexibility
Each classroom and partner is unique. To be successful, a project must meet the needs and goals of a particular education community.
