Funding Framework

The mandate of the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is to foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians.

The arts are essential to the quality of life, cultural identity, social well-being and economic prosperity of Ontario. Access to and participation in the arts enhances lives, fosters creativity and innovation, and strengthens communities. OAC is committed to ensuring equitable access for everyone, with particular emphasis on six priority groups, and the organizations that serve them and the public.

Singer-songwriter Noosa Al-Sarraj (a.k.a. Winona Wilde) is this year’s recipient of the Ontario Arts Council’s (OAC) Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award, for her song Pincushion Soldier. The award will be presented on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Folk Music Ontario’s annual conference.

The Georgian Bay Symphony is the recipient of the 2017 Vida Peene Orchestra Award from the Ontario Arts Council (OAC). The $5,000 award will be presented at their French Melody concert on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m., at the OSCVI Community Auditorium in Owen Sound.
