OAC Administers Arts Program to Challenge Attitudes on Sexual Violence and Harassment for Ontario Women’s Directorate
The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) and the Ontario Women's Directorate have launched the $2.25 million Creative Engagement Fund to Stop Sexual Violence and Harassment in Ontario.
This multi-year funding program will nurture important relationships between the arts and social service sectors across the province.
Artists and arts organizations will have the opportunity to collaborate with organizations or experts working to prevent sexual violence and harassment. It will ensure that Ontario communities have access to artistic projects that deal effectively with issues of sexual violence and harassment, such as consent, rape culture and gender equality. The arts community can develop innovative strategies to help people better understand the issue and stop the violence.
Fifteen per cent of the Creative Engagement Fund is dedicated to supporting Aboriginal projects. The Creative Engagement Fund is open to Ontario-based community not-for-profit organizations, arts not-for-profit organizations, and arts ad hoc groups and collectives.
The deadline for this program is December 15, 2015 at 12 p.m. (noon)
Successful applicants will be announced in March 2016.
