Strengthening skills, building capacity and sharing knowledge among Ontario’s artists and arts organizations is increasingly important in today’s environment of rapid change, competing challenges and emerging opportunities, including new technologies and ways of working.
In developing our strategic plan, OAC heard from the arts sector that they value and need opportunities for professional development, capacity-building and increased connections among artists and arts organizations.
The OAC supports training, mentorship, career development and capacity building at the individual, organization and sectoral level.
OAC’s key objectives in Developing Careers and Arts Services are to:
Build a resilient and healthy arts sector;
Ensure artists and other arts professionals have access to learning opportunities;
Enhance capacity of arts organizations, in particular new and emerging organizations;
Promote collaboration within the arts community.
