New board members: Isabelle Boulerice-Leblanc and Missy Knott
The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is delighted to share two new appointments to our board of directors:
- Isabelle Boulerice-Leblanc of Embrun was appointed to the board in August 2023. She has taught in the Eastern Ontario French Public School Board since 1996 – most recently as a resource teacher, providing support and guidance to students with special learning needs. Her patience, creativity, adaptability and passion for teaching motivates her to create a caring learning environment that fosters the academic, social and emotional growth of her students. - Melissa (Missy) Knott of Curve Lake First Nation was appointed to the board in September 2023. An award-winning singer-songwriter who performs as Singing Wild Rice Girl, she is also the founder of Wild Rice Records. This independent record label based in Nogojiwanong (Peterborough), run collaboratively with community members, focuses on supporting Indigenous artists through every stage of their creative journey – from establishing a healthy foundation to concept and development. We are also sending our best wishes to two directors who have now concluded their time on OAC’s board – Geneviève Painchaud of Ottawa and Kyan Nademi of Toronto. Our thanks to both of them for their hard work, insights and deep commitment to Ontario’s arts sector.
