New theatre program officer at the Ontario Arts Council
Theatre artist and arts manager Daniel Carter is the Ontario Arts Council (OAC)’s new theatre program officer, beginning the role this week.
Daniel comes to OAC with more than 10 years of experience in the arts and culture sector, ranging from arts administration and development to programming and curation. Most recently, he was managing director of Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, the largest and longest-running queer theatre in the world, and he was previously its interim director of operations and programming.
Daniel has also worked as general manager of the Paprika Festival, which provides growth, performance and engagement opportunities for young voices in the performing arts, and as marketing manager for the annual SummerWorks Performance Festival. Daniel is also a member of the peer advisory committee for Humber College’s Arts Administration and Cultural Management program, of which he is a graduate.
